A reflection sheet helps students evaluate their learning and set goals for improvement. Moodle provides an easy way to create one using the Questionnaire activity. Here’s how you can set it up.

Steps to Create a Reflection Sheet in Moodle

1. Add a Questionnaire Activity

  • Go to your Moodle course.
  • Click Add activity.
  • Select Questionnaire and add it to your course.

2. Add Questions

To help students reflect on their learning, add different types of questions.

Rating Questions

Use a Slider to let students rate their performance.

  • Question Example:How well could you say what you wanted to say?
    • Left Label: Very little (0%)
    • Right Label: Almost completely (100%)
    • Increment: 10
  • Other similar questions:
    • How well were you able to understand the other students’ language?
    • How well did you complete the assigned tasks in class?
    • How much the target language did you use during class?
    • How well did you reconsider your ideas based on others’ opinions?
    • How well were you able to achieve last week’s goal?

Essay Questions

Students can reflect in writing about their learning experience.

  • Write a short summary of what you learned in class this week.
    • Example response: “I learned how to introduce myself in Japanese.”
  • What things were you able to do and not able to do in today’s class?
    • Example response:
      • Things I was able to do: I was able to ask a question in Japanese.
      • Things I was not able to do: I was not able to pronounce some new words correctly.
  • Set a goal for next week.
    • Example goals:
      • Watch a target language’s movie with English subtitles.
      • Learn 10 new Japanese words and use them in a sentence.
      • Listen to a Japanese podcast for 5 minutes every day.

3. Save and Implement

Once you have added all the questions and set the options, save the questionnaire. Encourage students to complete it at the end of each class or term to reflect on their learning journey. This activity will help them become more aware of their progress and set achievable goals for improvement.
